Are these biodegradable trash bags?

Nope. But hear us out.When recycled plastic waste goes to landfill, it produces very little methane over time. “Biodegradable” bags, on the other hand, need oxygen and sunlight to biodegrade. In landfill, they’re sealed off from both, so they break down slowly, releasing methane as they go. (Quick refresher: Methane is a super potent greenhouse gas. The same one cows release when they burp!) Research shows that in these conditions, recycled plastic — which doesn't break down anaerobically — can actually have a lower global warming footprint. It’s a counterintuitive (but science backed) win!

What size is right for me?

Check your trash can’s capacity. It’s usually listed in gallons (gal) and stamped on the bottom. Most standard kitchen bins work well with our Tall Kitchen trash bags (13-gallon). For your home office, bedroom and bathroom bins, our small bags (4-gallon) are a tip top choice.

Pretty darn strong. We’ve done extensive product testing and can confidently say that our recycled trash bags are super durable and tear resistant. For proof, scroll up and watch us fill them with bricks. And pineapples. And jelly. Mmmm jelly.

Do these trash bags have drawstrings?

Here’s a fun little fact: Drawstrings can’t be made from recycled plastic for technical and manufacturing reasons. (Weird, we know.) That’s why our bags have built-in handles. They’re made from recycled materials and sturdier than drawstrings, which often break with heavy loads.
